Patch Notes for The Ascent contains information regarding updates for the game which normally applies changes to various gameplay mechanics. The following patches are free and are released online for players to download on the following respective platforms such as PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. August 18, 2022 - The Ascent Patch # 12

Cyber Heist - Out Now!

Kira, your former employer, has a new top-secret job, and as a newly independent contractor how could you refuse? Venture outside of your familiar arcology into a brand new arcology owned by the Malhorst-Gelb Group. There’s some new ground-breaking tech ripe for the taking, but you’re not the only one with sights on the prize. Cyber Heist Includes:

  • New Main + Side Missions
  • New locations
  • 5 New weapons including for the first time in The Ascent, melee weapons!

Patch Notes #12

The following summary covers the key areas we have addressed in this new major Patch update for The Ascent on Steam.

General

  • We have added a new Melee weapon into the game. The uPlus bat can be found across the world by winning combat against Thugs in the world.
  • Ultrawide support has been improved with the following resolutions now available: 1024×768, 1152×864, 1152×872, 1280×720, 1280×800, 1280×1024, 1440×900, 1600×900, 1600×1200, 1680×1050, 1920×1080, 1920×1200, 2560×1440, 3440×1440

Stability

  • Fixed an issue where Players could lose keyboard input in the interaction with the GunSmith in Cluster 13.
  • Fixed rare crash that could occur when taking a Taxi from “CorpZone” to “Arcology: Highstreet”.

Co-op

  • Resolved an issue where EN bar recharge sometimes wouldn’t appear for Client Players.
  • Fixed an issue where the Host might be unable to skip a cutscene if they disconnected their controller in the loading screen & tried to reconnect before the loading was over.
  • Fixed an issue where Cyberdecks stopped functioning for the Client Player in some circumstances.
  • Resolved an issue where the Client Player could lose all equipped items including Cyberdeck if they hotjoins when a Host Player triggers the elevator.
  • Fixed instance where the Papa Feral’s Health Bar failed to appear for Client Players if certain conditions were met.
  • Addressed an issue where it could take several seconds until the Co-op Player’s weapon appeared after a Host Player takes a taxi, when in different zones.
  • Fixed an issue in Local Co-op where one Player taking the elevator in Lanier’s Apartment with another Player staying behind could cause world textures to unload.
  • Addressed specific instances where players in a Co-op session would hear the music from Coder’s Cove while in combat in Black Lake Towers.
  • Fixed a bug which could allow Local Co-op Players to temporarily take over the other Players’ vendor browsing.
  • Fixed an issue where spamming “Switch Character” while loading into an Online Co-op game could cause the “Select Profile” tab to become stuck on screen.
  • Fixed instances which could lead to a “Failed to join the session” becoming stuck on screen after accepting an invite to an Online Lobby.
  • Fixed a bug which could see NPCs in interior areas multiply for Online Co-op Clients if repeatedly entering and exiting interior locations while the Host remained in an outside location.

Gameplay

  • Resolved a couple issues preventing the ‘Exotic Dinner’ Side Mission from being completed under set circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue where additional incorrect enemies would spawn in the Papa Feral fight during ‘Arcology Blues’ (Mission 1)
  • Addressed a potential progression blocker in ‘Liberation Operation’ Side Mission where after killing the Foreman the mission wouldn’t progress.
  • Fixed an issue in ‘Empowerment’ (Mission 4) where you could engage the Megarachnoid boss in combat before the cutscene had played, resolving a potential progression blocker.
  • Addressed an issue where utilizing Propulsion Leap against the Megarachnoid boss in ‘Empowerment’ (Mission 4) could under certain circumstances put Players in a state of invulnerability and unable to inflict damage.
  • Fixed a rare instance where rushing at the start of ‘Boardroom’ (Mission 10) could create a progression blocker.
  • Addressed instances where Ferals could get stuck in the environment, preventing completion of “Survive the Carnage” objective during ‘The Champ’ Side Mission.
  • Fixed an issue in ‘Empowerment’ (Mission 4) where the mission objective may not be updated after completing the ‘Boost Cooling System’ objective when the Host Player is far enough to get teleported by the Client Player.
  • Fixed an issue in ‘The Champ’ Side Mission where quitting the game mid-mission could cause no Feral’s to spawn upon resuming.
  • Fixed a navigation trail issue in the “Bubble Trouble” Side Mission at the ‘Search for Udina’ objective step.
  • Fixed an edge case progression blocker caused by Propulsion Leap in ‘Foreign Code’ (Mission 6).
  • Fixed several instances where Players utilizing the Propulsion Leap when attacking the Siege Mech enemy, including ‘Gun-Dolph’ could get stuck inside the Mech.
  • Resolved a potential progression blocker that could occur if quitting to Main Menu right after ‘Speak with 438 Hung’ mission step during ‘Trading Places’ (Mission 3).
  • Fixed an issue where Players could cause the ‘Gun-Dolph’ enemy during ‘Root Access’ (Mission 11) to glitch when attacked with Propulsion Leap.
  • Fixed a bug where holding the default “Confirm” button/key could lead to accidentally skipping of NPC dialogue.
  • Kira’s messages about civilians no longer play after ‘Unhandled Exception’ (Mission 12).

Audio

  • The “Interruptor” weapon now delivers a more satisfying sound.
  • Addressed Kira IMP Voice Over dialogue being delayed.

Translation

  • Improved translations for all languages.
  • Fixed various minor localisation issues.

Fixes

  • Lots of assorted & minor collision issues.

 

 

The Ascent Patch Notes & Hot Fixes #9-11

The Ascent - Steam Hot Fix 3

Released: March 30, 2022.

The following summary covers the key areas we have addressed in this new major Patch update for The Ascent on Steam. This Patch #9 is now live for all players on Steam.

General Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where purchased items from the various Vendors would not show for Client Players.
  • Fixed an issue where the title takes a noticeably long time to recognize that the Player has left the lobby, which could prevent a Client Player problems trying to rejoin.
  • Fixed a potential crash after triggering the "Photomode" button and disconnecting the controller at the same time.
  • We fixed a number of stability issues around controller disconnections that could happen at various points.
  • Fixed a potential issue where Players could get trapped inside a small area next to the elevator in corpZone.
  • Resolved an issue in Local Co-op where a soft-lock could potentially happen if multiple interactions were triggered at the same time.
  • Fixed an issue where a Client Player NPC dialogue is progressed by the Host Player clicking next in a dialogue with an entirely different character.
  • Fixed some general stability issues in NG+.
  • Resolved an issue in NG+ Online Co-op where currently equipped weapons are not shown in the Player's HUD for Clients after the cutscene.
  • Fixed the issue where the animation of hammer hitting the ground of Hammerhand Larkians was missing.
  • Fixed some NG+ Tutorial display issues.
  • Minor camera fix in the Silo 86 area where the Player view could be cut off at the bottom of the screen.
  • Fixed a number of minor collision issues that could happen when using certain Augmentations.
  • Fixed a number of minor general collision issues.

The Ascent - Steam Hot Fix 2

Released: March 4, 2022.

The Ascent is now available and verified on Steam Deck! Players on Steam Deck will also have an exclusive Steam Deck in-game as a replacement for the traditional Cyberdeck!

The Ascent - Steam Hot Fix 1

Released: February 28, 2022.

  • Fixes an issue where some players could not start NG+ despite having a valid save.

 

 

February 24, 2022 - The Ascent Patch #8

The Cyber Warrior Pack is the must have kit for all you Cyberpunk Samurai out there! Nothing strikes fear into your enemies more than a well-crafted piece of Samurai armor, and with 7 pieces to choose from, there's plenty of options. The additional 2 new weapons, and tactical are just the icing on the cake. That’s not all, the 3 new weapon skins are just as important for your enemies as they are you, at least they’ll know they’ve been slain by the best looking weapons out there. NEW GAME+ MODE AVAILABLE ON STEAM

We’re happy to announce that New Game + is available now, free for all Steam players. Finished the main campaign and want a new challenge? Start a New Game + run!

Bring the gear, weapons, knowledge, and skill you earned from your first run, and take them with you into a whole new challenge. Don’t think you’ll breeze through though... enemies haven’t forgotten what you did to them the first time around... and they want revenge. They’re not going to make things easy. Enjoy a new challenge with more difficult enemies, level cap increased from 30, weapons upgrades past Mk.10 and more!

How to unlock New Game +

Once you’ve completed the main campaign, go to “Single Player” and choose “New Game +”. Select the save file you wish to convert to a New Game + save, and head back to Veles for round 2! Those who finish the game again may find an additional piece of content...

PATCH #8 NOTES

Patch 8 incudes a number of improvements to The Ascent, while also adding New Game +. The update is now live for all Steam players. Regrettably, we aren’t able to release the patch across all platforms simultaneously, we’re working hard to rectify this, we apologise and thank you for your patience. Our team continues to work hard on improving the game, and we’d like to thank the community for their continued support and feedback. Your feedback has been vital for us continuing to build The Ascent, we really appreciate it! For a full breakdown of Patch 8, please see below:

  • New Game Plus (NG+) has been added to the game.
  • We have added a ‘saving’ icon that displays on the right side of the screen at various times
  • Fixes made to stability in Single Player, including a number of low frequency crashes, additionally we have resolved a number of issues that will improve stability in Coop.
  • Fixed an issue where enemies that might spawn anchored incorrectly, making them really hard to kill, has been fixed.
  • Resolved a bug where a Ranged Larkian does not reload their weapon and remains in idle animation after emptying the minigun's magazine.
  • Fixed a Local Coop issue where you could copy and overwrite profiles after specific steps were taken whilst disconnecting controllers.
  • We fixed an issue where Clients could not rejoin a Host after a disconnection from the internet.
  • Fixed an issue where a Player could start a Single Player game whilst accepting an invite for a Coop session.
  • Fixed an issue where a Player could sometimes crawl faster during DNMO status.
  • There was an issue where VSync wasn’t being reset to defaults which is now resolved.
  • Fixed an issue where the camera could get stuck in a fixed position upon Player 2 interaction with a Vendor while Player 1 is already interacting with the same Vendor
  • Fixed an issue in Photo Mode where the game wasn’t being paused if the ‘pause’ function was mapped to F10.
  • Fixed an issue where a Client could experience a hang if the Host disconnected the game immediately upon loading into the game.
  • We fixed several issues where the Player could instigate a soft-lock by interacting with multiple ‘interacts’ at the same time.
  • Resolved an issue where ‘Sell all Duplicates’ option could sell all duplicates, regardless of the chosen category.
  • Fixed some minor collision issues.

 

 

January 28, 2022 - The Ascent Patch # 7

FREE CHONGQING PACK

The Chongqing pack is now available on Steam and will be available on other platforms shortly

The Chongqing Pack contains:

  • The Interhabber Shades: Worn by Habbers that have seen the world, this piece doesn’t come cheap, but you’ll look amazing and that’s all that matters
  • The Distant Goggles: A very sightly set of goggles. The style has become popular outside of the Arcology and is finally getting more available here as well. Goggle shortages, am I right?
  • The Moon Jacket: This won’t stop bullets, but it will stop others in their tracks, as they gaze upon your magnificent Moon Jacket
  • 2 new tiger-themed Shirt skins: Tiger and Tiger White
  • And last but not least, the 2 new weapons skins: Tiger and Tiger White!

To unlock the Chongqing Pack for free, click download here on Steam and find the items by vising the relevant vendors:

  • Go to any Armor vendor to unlock the Interhabber Shades (13,300 ucreds), the Distant Goggles (16,500 ucreds) and the Moon Jacket (22,000 ucreds).
  • Go to any Grafter to apply the Tiger (free) or Tiger White (free) shirt skin.
  • Go to any Gun Smith or any [grafter] to apply the Tiger (free) or Tiger White (free) weapon skins.

PATCH #7 NOTES

The following summary covers the key areas we have addressed in this Patch #7 update. Please note we are continuing to work hard on improving the game and we’re very grateful for the feedback and support we receive from our community.

Coop

  • Fixed an issue that could occur where an indefinite unresponsive state could occur when a Player attempts to host an online session when the ‘You can join multiplayer games’ privilege is set to ‘Block’.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur during a Coop game when entering Nitroad or The Node.
  • Fixed a rare issue where the ‘Failed to host game’ prompt appears after a Player attempts to host a Coop game with a new or saved game, under certain conditions.
  • Fixed an issue where a crash could occur for the Host Player when a Client Player buys an item from a Vendor.

Gameplay (all platforms)

  • Turrets now show the correct level when encountering them.
  • Fixed an issue where enemies may not all spawn correctly during ‘Data Miner’ (Mission 5).
  • Fixed an issue during ‘Liberation Operation’ (Side Mission 19) where in certain instances, the Forman and his guards could despawn during the mission.

Audio

  • Fixed some minor audio issues in the Journal.

Translation (all platforms)

  • Many translation fixes across all non-English languages.

Misc. Fixed (all platforms)

  • Fixed some minor collision issues.

 

 

December 15, 2021 - The Ascent Patch #6

FREE WINTER PACK

A new makeshift hand grenade:

  • Snowball: Throw with the intent to stagger but not kill - to be jolly but not homicidal. A snowball fight is always fun and games, until someone loses an eye. Remember, play ice!

And three new fashion apparels:

  • Buttercup headgear: 'Tis the season of strange on Veles. Horrible visibility, highly flammable and with questionable street cred.
  • Red Danger headgear: Warm your nose and make a statement to boot. A bright red nose like a true alpha, and antlers for immediate intimidation. Don't listen to the fools that say you look silly.
  • Festive shirt: A festive Winter T-shirt

SIDE MISSIONS ARE NOW FULLY VOICED

The Ascent is the first game to use Altered’s augmented voice technology, a new AI-powered tool to augment human voices to create a range of custom voices for new lines of dialogue. Previously, for some of our NPC's especially for side missions, we had used Alien voices with subtitles. We partnered with Altered to create real voices for these characters to make the world of Veles feel even more alive! Altered have helped us in voicing over 800 lines voiced by 40 NPCs using their ground breaking technology.

PATCH #6 NOTES

The following update is now available for all players on all platforms. Our team is continuing to improve the game and we’re very grateful for all of the feedback from our community. We’ve added a build number to all versions of ‘The Ascent’, this is to aid in debugging future community issues. The number can be found in the lower right hand corner of the Main Menu. Please use this number when reporting issues, many thanks!

Gameplay (all platforms)

  • Fixed an issue where some items could not be equipped correctly when using Transmog.
  • Fixed an issue where the NEWT MGL grenades could be fired through certain thin walls.

Translation (all platforms)

  • Minor fixes and improvements made to translation across the game. We will continue to work on improving translation.

Misc. Fixes (all platforms)

  • Fixed a handful of minor collision related issues.

 

 

December 2, 2021 - The Ascent Patch #5

FREE CONTENT UPDATE: TRANSMOGRIFICATION

Transmogrification (commonly referred to as Transmog) provides the ability to replace the appearance of your armor with other items, or to hide certain pieces of armor. You can now do so in The Ascent by visiting the Stylist, who can be found in each safe-zone: Cluster 13, The Node and Arcology Highstreet. For a small fee, the stylist will allow you to transmog any armor item currently equipped and replace its appearance with the chosen transmog. If your new look is becoming outdated, you can always reverse your choice, and select a new look!

Want to pay a visit to the Punk Bladder, but without all the heavy armor, just as a regular Habber? Now you can! We’ve added eight new fashion items for you to experiment with the new Transmog feature and recently added photo mode.

Patch #5 is now live on all platforms and addresses the below:

Performance (PC)

  • Fixed some instances of slow loading for Client Players when entering new areas in Online Coop.

Stability (all platforms)

  • Fixed some rare crashes on the Xbox One Game Pass version of the game.
  • Fixed a crash experienced by some Players on Xbox Series X during ‘Trading Places’ (Mission 3) that could occur during the ‘Access Ship Bridge’ objective.

Save Progress (all platforms)

  • Fixed an issue for some Players where applying the Halloween Skull Ink resulted in other inks vanishing.

Coop

  • Fixed numerous stability issues.
  • Improved joining stability on Game Pass for hotjoining Players.
  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Select Profile’ screen appeared on the Start Screen for hotjoining Client Players in some circumstances.
  • Various Local Coop fixes made to improve interactions with Vendors.
  • Fixed an issue where the Client Player would sometimes not be able to overwrite a Profile after accepting an invite if there was a connectivity issue.
  • Fixed an issue experienced by some Players where Main Menu UI elements would disappear after the Player closed the Select Profile tab, before accepting the invite to a game.

Gameplay (all platforms)

  • Fixed a navigation issue that could occur during ‘Empowerment’ (Mission 4) where Client Players could be taken in the wrong direction during the ‘Override Distribution Hub’ step.
  • Fixed an issue where the Player could be unable to close the Taxi overlay if they trigger a Taxi at the same time as a Vendor.

Photo Mode

  • Fixed an issue where the Player could trigger a Taxi ride, whilst in Photo Mode.
  • Fixed several issues where a softlock could occur when using Photo Mode during Taxi or Tier Elevator usage.
  • Fixed some minor Photo Mode UI glitches.
  • Fixed several issues with Photo Mode in Local Coop, such as Player 2 being unable to close the UI after activation & the Pause UI not appearing.
  • Fixed an edge case crash in Photo Mode that could happen when picking up an item at the same moment that Photo Mode is invoked.

Audio

  • All Coop Players should now be able to hear each other's bullets.

Achievements (all platforms)

  • Fixed the ‘Flatliner’ Achievement issue where the Codex entries for Celine & Hung were sometimes not unlocked correctly.
  • Fixed an issue experienced by some Players where the ‘Hygiene’ Achievement was not being given when using certain sinks/toilets.

Translation (all platforms)

  • Fixes and improvements made to localisation across the game.

Visuals

  • Fixed some minor UI issues.

Misc. Fixes (all platforms)

  • Numerous minor collision fixes addressed.
  • New ‘Downloadable Content’ button has been added to the Main Menu so you can easily find new content for ‘The Ascent’ for Steam and Xbox consoles. It will be added for Game Pass PC in our next patch.

October 28, 2021 - The Ascent Patch #4

The following summary covers the key areas we have addressed in this new Patch update for The Ascent. This update is now live and available for The Ascent on Steam (deployed on October 28th). NEW IN-GAME COSMETICS

To thank everyone in the community for their continuous love and support since we launched The Ascent, we’ve also added two new shirt skins and ten new weapon skins, so get customising, and remember to share your new styles with us with Photo Mode! Please note we'll keep working on Photo mode and improve it in future patches.

  • Greentooth (shirt skin): unlocked by default in the character creator
  • Feed (shirt skin): can be found in loot drops (enemy drops or crates)
  • Greeny (weapon skin): unlocked by default in the character creator
  • Junkyard (weapon skin): unlocked by default in the character creator

Photo Mode

All you need to know about the Photo Mode:

  • The Photo Mode needs to be enabled in the Gameplay settings.
  • The Photo Mode button can be reconfigured on PC (settings > key mappings) and is on D-pad right on Gamepad.
  • UI needs to be hidden to move the camera
  • Press F10 on Keyboard and LB on Gamepad to grab a screenshot

FREE HALLOWEEN PACK

To celebrate Halloween and the Steam Halloween Sale, we are releasing a Halloween Pack for free for all players. You can download this pack on Steam by visiting this page. For players on other platforms, this content will automatically unlock as you download Patch #4 update. The Halloween Pack contains:

  • The Jack o’Lantern headgear
  • The Skeleton shirt
  • A Skull Face Tattoo

Performance (PC Steam and Windows 10 Game Pass):

  • Fixed some instances of slow loading for Client Players when entering new areas in Online Coop.

Visuals (all platforms)

  • Fixed some minor UI issues.

Stability (all platforms)

  • Improved the stability when changing Xbox profiles during Online Coop games.
  • Resolved an issue where there could be an indefinite load when four consoles are joining an Online Coop game.
  • Fixed a rare softlock issue when taking the Central Shaft elevator.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur in local Coop if the 2nd Player joins and leaves a lobby before selecting a profile.
  • Fixed some instances where the game could crash for the Host when loading large areas of the game.
  • Fixed a rare crash to the Xbox home screen during “Mutual Dependencies” (Mission 2) when in the ‘No Mans Land’ area.
  • Fixed numerous disconnection related issues.

Save Progress (all platforms)

  • Fixed an issue where some Xbox live online sessions were not closed properly and that could cause loss of progression.

Co-op (all platforms)

  • Fixed some invite issues that could occur in Online Coop where some Players were unable to join.

Gameplay (all platforms)

  • Fixed a bug where new augmentations were not being automatically equipped for the second Player.

Audio (all platforms)

  • Fixed an issue experienced by some Xbox Players where cut-scene audio was of a low quality when reaching Pinnacle Tier during “Syntax Error” (Mission 8)

Translation (all platforms)

  • Lots of translation fixes across all non-English languages.
  • Please note more fixes and improvements will come in future updates.

Misc. Fixes (all platforms)

  • Minor collision fixes

October 12, 2021 - The Ascent Patch #3 Update

For clarity, a hotfix has been deployed to complete this fix, you can find all the details here .

Gameplay (all platforms)

  • We have made game-wide changes to Side Mission availability so they are now only available when they can also be completed. This change was made to resolve the issues where navigation would lead Players to locations they could not access (as they hadn't been unlocked yet). This change only affects newly started games after applying the patch.
  • Fixes have been made to resolve situations where no FullChromes are present during “Mutual Dependencies” (Mission 2) unblocking Players stuck here.
  • A fix has been made to resolve an issue where some Player were blocked at the ‘Find Lanier’ step during “Data Miner” (Mission 5).
  • We have made a fix for Players reporting being blocked at the ‘talk to Kira’ step in “Trace Protocol” (Mission 7).
  • Malhorst-Gelb Siege Mech in “Trading Places” now unlocks correct enemy codex entry (Mission 3).
  • Whisper Cybernetics now correctly unlocks for all manufacturer items, not just 'Lock-on Fire'.
  • Fixed an issue where resetting Skill Points did not update visuals.
  • Fixed names in location plaques in the journal map.
  • Habnet gear was set incorrectly as Canary, now fixed.
  • Fixed an issue with Side Mission markers appearing incorrectly inside Serenity Plus.
  • Fixed an edge case issue where melee enemies would stop attacking the Player after certain steps.
  • Resolved an issue where a Player could fall out-of-world from a certain lift in Grinder.
  • Fixed a rare issue where enemies may not spawn during the “Kill Onyx Void” step of “Trading Places” (Mission 3).
  • Fixed an issue where the Mono Defender could not be obtained from a Vendor after completing “Empowerment” (Mission 4).
  • Fixed an issue where a Player could use Propulsion Leap and knock Celine down, blocking her completely during “Trace Protocol” (Mission 7).

  • Resolved an issue where a downed Player being revived as a cut-scene was being played could cause a progression blocker.
  • Fixed an issue where AI would sometimes stop going aggro against the Player.
  • Fixed an issue where a Player could interact with a Gun Smith through the wall in ‘Coders Cove’.
  • Resolved a rare issue where the ‘Kill the Turbo Vipers at the Glittering Rose’ objective could not be completed (Side Mission).
  • Resolved an issue where sometimes enemies could stop attacking the Player during the Appropriation in “Data Miner” (Mission 5).
  • Dealbreaker weapon is nerfed (you had your fun!)
  • Knockback decreased from 150 to 110
  • Close range damage decreased from 90 to 30 (all shotguns are around 30)
  • Reload time increased from 4s to 7s
  • Clipsize decreased from 200 to 150
  • Minor Note weapon is now fun to use.
  • Piercing shots with huge knockback and stuns enemies.
  • Weapon Handling Skill nerfed from a maximum increase of 25% reload time to 40%.

Coop

  • Loading screens have been added for Players hot-joining to clearly communicate the status of joining a game in progress.
  • Fixed numerous issues with dual elevators in Local Coop.
  • Improved loading speeds for starting a Coop session.
  • Fixed several potential softlocks in Local Coop that could happen during controller disconnection & reconnection.
  • Fixed a number of Coop related crashes.
  • Fixed dialogue windows not being visible for Player 2 in Local Coop.
  • Fixed an instance where a hot-joining Player could spawn out-of-world.
  • Fixed an issue where a black screen might be displayed for hot-joining Players instead of a loading screen.
  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Invite’ button might not be working in the Pause Menu.
  • Fixed an issue where Serenity Plus wasn’t loading for a Player joining a game whilst the Host Player was just entering the interior of Serenity Plus.
  • Resolved an issue where Tutorials would sometimes not trigger for Host Player is the other Player in the party, triggered them first.
  • Addressed an issue where Players may be unable to join a Coop hosted-session after changing the User account.
  • Resolved an issue where Client Players on Window’s 10 Gamepass may not be teleported into nogHead’s room during the ‘Speak with nogHead’ objective step in “Trading Places” (Mission 3).
    Fixed a bug where XB1 Client Players could sometimes see characters early when joining a game hosted by a Windows 10 Gamepass Host.
  • Resolved a hot-joining issue where the Client Player could potentially get stuck on the Interlink if they joined a session right before the Host Player took the train.
  • Fixed the elevator in Rooftops that would not reliably work for Client Players.
  • Numerous Local Coop controller focus issues have been fixed.
  • Improved loading speed for crossplay when a Client Player is joining the Host Player who has just been entering/leaving interiors with hostile enemies.

Audio

  • Replication of audio fixed for the Larkian Thug in Coop.
  • Fixed an issue where Player pain vocalisations were not firing.
  • Fixed some missing spot SFX that wouldn’t always reload after a restart in the HighStreet area of the game.
  • Fixed missing music in Taxi that could occur in certain situations.
  • Fixed missing spot SFX that could vanish during Interlink rides.
  • Music when entering a Vendor now lowers volume, rather than muting.
  • Fixed some instances where background music could be missing from the Main Menu.
  • Fixed an instance where music wasn’t playing correctly during end-game Credits.

Visuals

  • Fixed issue where fog would be incorrect if approaching from a certain direction in AGHQ.
  • Fixed an issue where viewing map in the Pinnacle on XB1 would be white.
  • Fixed an issue where player circle would be hidden in certain locations.
  • Fixed an issue with Augmentation visuals on female characters.
  • Fixed an issue with software augmentations not updating the Augmentation visuals.
  • Fixed an issue where in some instances, using the Pocket Mech could change the characters appearance from Male to Female, or vice versa.
  • Fixed a number of minor issues with hairstyles.
  • Fixed some extremely bright lights in the ‘Ascent Group HQ’ area on XB1.

October 7, 2021 - The Ascent Patch #3

The following summary covers the key areas we have addressed in this new major Patch update for The Ascent. This update is now live and available for The Ascent on Steam (deployed on October 7th). The same patch will also be landing on the Xbox family platforms shortly (Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox Series S/X, Microsoft store). Thank you for your patience.

Performance (all platforms)

  • Lots of stability improvements for XBSX and XB1.
  • Improved performance of Neutron Beam on XB1.
  • Fixed an issue where hardware Ray Tracing options were enabled on GPUs that do not support it (instead, it was defaulting to software Ray Tracing). – PC & Win 10 only
  • Fixed an issue where the game may have displayed a non-interactive (black) screen when starting a new game on XB1.
  • Fixed an issue where being offline on Gamepass Windows Store would cause potential random freezing. – Win 10 only

Stability (all platforms)

  • Fixed a DX12 memory leak on XB1 that could cause an "out of memory" error.
  • Fixed a save related crash that could occur in some instances.
  • Fixed an issue where in some instances the game could not be resumed from being suspended (XB1/XSX only).
  • Fixed a crash that could happen during “Project MenShen” (Mission 12).
  • Fixed a number of reported ‘freezes’ that could occur when the game is being played offline.
  • Fixed a rare issue where pressing ‘Quit to Main Menu’ during the death-screen would cause an infinite loading screen.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur at the end of "Empowerment" (Mission 4).
  • Fixed an audio related crash that could occur when taking a Tier elevator.

Save Progress (all platforms)

  • Lots of general improvements to the Save System.
  • Fixed an issue where a Player Client's single player saved game is overwritten by Host's saved game if client accept invite from single player session.
  • Fixed an issue where the Client Player could see the Host Players saves in some situations.
  • Fixed an issue where some Client Players would no longer have an objective if they continued their Single Player playthrough after leaving a Coop game.
  • Fixed an issue where a rare crash could sometimes reset a Players save.
  • Fixed an issue where in some cases, a Player Client’s single-player progress could get reset after playing in Coop.

Achievements (all platforms)

Please note that we will continue to closely monitor any reported issues on achievements as we fully understand their importance for all players.

  • Fixed an issue where the Comprehensive Achievement wouldn’t unlock for some players.
  • Fixed an issue in Coop where ‘Omnihacker’ may not be awarded to a Client Player in some circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue in Coop where ‘For Both Our Benefits’ may not be awarded to a Client Player in some circumstances.
  • The issue with ‘Win’ Achievement not being unlocked, despite the conditions being met is resolved.
  • Fixed an issue where Client Player stats were sometimes not being correctly tracked after quitting and resuming a game.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes Achievements may not have unlocked correctly when Coop Players resumed a game.

 

 

August 27, 2021 - The Ascent Patch #2

The following summary covers the key areas we have addressed in this new major Patch update for The Ascent. This update is now live and available for The Ascent on Steam (deployed 27th August), Windows 10 store and Xbox console players (deployed 3rd September).

Performance (PC Steam & Win10)

  • DX12 is now the default for Windows Store Players.
  • DX11 is now supported for Windows Store.
  • Improvements made to reduce stuttering and hitching, for DX11 and DX12, more work will continue here for future updates.
  • Ray Tracing is set to default ‘off’ on all platforms.
  • Improved Hot Joining loading times on Steam & XB Family devices, more work will continue here for future updates.

  • Fixed a number of crashes in Single Player and Coop.

  • Fixed the issue where sometimes a FullChrome wouldn’t spawn in ‘Mutual Dependencies’ (Mission 2).
  • Fixed an issue where ‘Sell All Duplicates’ worked incorrectly.
  • Changed the frequency of Kira lines when civilians are killed (will now trigger less often).

Achievements (all platforms)

  • Fixed an issue with the Achievement ‘Added Extras’
  • Fixed an issue with the Achievement ‘Aficionado’
  • Fixed an issue with the Achievement ‘Helping Hand’

August 16, 2021 - Steam Hotfix

Please note these fixes have been deployed today for Steam players and will also be landing for Xbox and Windows 10 players shortly in the next patch, once through submission.

August 6, 2021 -  Patch #1

This update is now available for The Ascent on Steam, and the same patch will also be landing for Xbox and Windows 10 players shortly.

Performance (PC Steam & Win10 only)

  • Fixes to improve performance in DX12, also with Ray Tracing.
  • Note to Players: on first running of the update, there will be a 20-25 second ‘stall’ on loading to Main Menu to allow some caching to happen before you play. This is a one time event.
  • Ray Tracing is now available to Players on the Windows Store.
  • Improved loading in of NPCs
  • CPU performance mode for lower-end PCs

Stability (all platforms)

  • Numerous instances of ‘one time’ crashes have been fixed in both Single Player & Coop on ALL Platforms. (some other instances remain, we are working hard to resolve these for the next update).
  • Local Coop fixes where Player 1 and Player 2 have controller focus issues on certain menus.
  • Numerous other crash-fixes have been made to improve the stability of both local and online Coop, including fixes when disconnecting controllers, issues when 3 Players start a new game, and fixes when the internet connection becomes unstable.
  • Fixed an issue where in certain circumstances a black screen would appear at the end of Mission 12.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes it takes too long to return to the Main Menu after gameplay.
  • Fixed issues where Area loading is slower for the Client joining the game after the Host is using the Taxi.
  • Fixed some Weapon replication issues in Online Coop.
  • Fixed some issues around cross Platform hotjoining where Clients had trouble connecting to the Host.

Save Progress (all platforms)

  • Introduced a new system to circumvent situations where save files could become corrupted.
  • Fixes to situations in Coop where the Host leaving the game could cause the Client to lose progress.
  • Fixes to situations in Coop where Players may experience progression blockers in certain situations.
  • Fixed the issue where a Client’s items would unequip after a Host disconnects.
  • Fixed an issue where a Client may lose connection when hotjoining a game in progress.

Gameplay (all platforms)

  • Fixed an Achievement issue where you could unlock Main Mission and Side Mission under incorrect conditions.
  • Fixed an issue where the mission objective during ‘Go To Grinder’ in Mission 2 would not update.
  • The issue where multiple bosses could spawn has been fixed. e.g. Papa FeralMegarachnoid (Spider Boss), Gun-Dolph.
  • Fixed the Casino Courier Side Missions 1 – 5 where you could sometimes be unable to proceed due to missing NPCs.
  • Fixed the custom camera for ‘Dark Horse’ Side Mission.
  • Fixed the custom camera for Bartender in Stimtown.
  • Fixed the situation where sometimes ‘Dark Horse’ could not be completed due to the NPC remaining in a frightened state.
  • Fixed an issue where the Volatile Augmentation when used on neutrals had no effect.
  • Fixed an issue where the Siege Mech in the Prison could despawn after a Player died.
  • Fixed the issue where the Snooze Dealer’s Journal map icon was a white square.
  • Fixed damage scaling on the Pocket Mech minigun to make it more powerful as you level up.
  • Allows the use of certain augmentations while rolling.
  • Balanced cost/cooldown/efficiency of Life TransferNeutron Beam and Overclock
  • Fixed issues with PLUG Cyberdeck not cracking ICE 1.

Translation (all platforms)

  • Lots of fixes have been made to address instances where English would appear instead of the correct language.
  • Further work is continuing to improve the quality of the translations as well as further general bug fixes.
  • Fixed an issue in Japanese where text overlapped in the intro cut-scene.

Assorted other fixes (all platforms)

  • Fixed an issue where sometimes in Dreamworld, shooting SFX without enemies being present could be heard.
  • Fixed an issue where the death-screen replaced the SFX & VO after defeating the Megarachnoid.
  • Cyberdeck visible in Journal
  • News now plays in the Taxi
  • Film Grain toggle added to the Graphics menu
  • Fixed the Dismemberer shooting SFX that could be missing for Clients.

August 4, 2021 -  Patch Notes

The patch released for The Ascent on August 4th, has made some significant changes to the UI as well as adding a Difficulty settings slider to Settings. This patch has been only available to Xbox players, not present in the Steam version of the game. 

The file size varies from 2.5 GB to 5.7 GB depending on the platform the game is installed on.

          Side quest bugs!
          - Slaughter House boss not loading
          - One More Rep - leads to no body...
          - Lost and Found - leads to no body after finding the suitcase...

          Guys please. You're game is fun to play but these kind a bugs are a disaster.

            I have seen multiple issues...all of these were seen from hosted online coop on PC
            1. non-hosting player cannot see hud info (health, energy, exp, etc)
            2. After finishing the Empowerment boss we saw 3 instances of the boss at once and the second time we finished that boss the game froze
            3. Map/mini-map navigation is erratic for mission waypoints
            4. non-hosting character cannot see chests on the map...only on the mini map

              Honestly an amazing game -- but for:
              -- Xbox (newest console)-- couch co-op does NOT save player skills/stats or anything at all;
              -- the elevator glitches are horrible; and
              -- a better system in saving the game
