DPSOverwhelmer is a Machinegun Weapon in The Ascent. Overwhelmer is aModified Machinegun. Weapons are located on the loadout screen where players may assign a Primary, Secondary and Tactical Weapon. Available guns consist of different Sidearms, Machineguns, Shotguns, Precision Weapons and Excessive Weapons, while other gadgets take up the tactical weapon slot. Each weapon contains varying stats that are also accessible from the loadout menu.

Overwhelmer Upgrades
In order to upgrade your weapon, you will need to speak to the Gun Smith and provide the required number of resources to increase its level. There are three types of components that are found through looting areas, establishments, chests, crates, from bodies, defeated enemies, and can also be acquired as a reward for completing certain Missions.

AnonymousThe game seems to consider it as an endgame weapon, according to the in-game description, the NPC dialogues, and the way how it is obtained. Yet, when being used as a primary weapon, it is quite underwhelming, because of (1) its low DPS, (2) negligible AOE damage that the only thing it does is damage yourself when shot in point-blank range, (3) low ammo capacity and the worst of all (4) poor accuracy inherited from HMG42 Dominator.
The only way it is useful is when used as a secondary weapon to against enemies with front shields. In which the mini-explosions can basically ignore the shield and damage the enemy behind it.

It was hyped beyond belief. effective only against tissue, not so much vs. mechanized.

It does so much damage you don't really care about the middling rate of fire. The clip size is really the only drawback, but with some fast reloading it hardly matters.

Barely useful due to its Rate of Fire, Damage and Mag size. Ridiculously overrated on description.
Seems like it's been nerfed, my mk. 8 has 86-120 and 516 dps
