About The Ascent

Welcome to The Ascent Group arcology, a self-contained corporate-run metropolis, stretching high into the sky and filled with creatures from all over the galaxy. You play as a worker, enslaved by the company that owns you and everyone else in your district. You get things done, whatever menial task is given. One day, whilst sent on a routine assignment to make use of your skills with a cyberdeck, you are suddenly caught in a vortex of catastrophic events.

The Ascent Group, the largest mega corporation on the planet, shuts down for unknown reasons, causing the automated security systems to go haywire. The survival of your district is threatened: rival corporations are trying to force appropriation and crime syndicates are looking to boost their black-market augmentation trade. You must take up arms to stop them from seizing control and embark on a new mission to find out what started it all.

Explore the world of Veles, alone or with up to three friends, to find out what happened. Your ascent through the arcology will lead you across the path of the most impressive enemies but also unexpected alliances. Fully customize your character's appearance, skills and abilities to match your playstyle and loot various weapons and gear as you grow stronger. Your ascent begins now.

The Ascent Release Info

The Ascent is a game that was developed using Unreal Engine 4 by a team of 11 people and is Neon Giant's debut in the industry. The Ascent was released on July 29, 2021, for Microsoft Windows (PC), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

The Ascent Game Features

• VIBRANT CYBERPUNK WORLD: Meet new allies and enemies and find loot as you explore the brimming world of The Ascent and its wide range of districts, from the deep slums to the higher luxury spheres.
• EXPLOSIVE SHOOTER: Aim low or high, switch weapons and equip lethal gadgets, take cover and use the destructible environments at your advantage and keep adjusting your tactic as you face new enemies.
• RPG ELEMENTS: Customize your character with cyberware that suits your playstyle. Allocate new skill points as you level-up and try various augmentations to take down your enemies in new creative ways.
• SOLO OR CO-OP: Play the entire game alone or work together with up to three friends in local or online co-op.

New Features for The Ascent!

With the added updates, Skins and Cosmetics is a feature that since been added into the game. These can be equipped to keep up with festivities during special holidays and events and allows players to now have more options to express themselves nd display their ideal aesthetic. These items were introduced with Transmogrification which can apply a skin onto different armor. This is done with the Stylist in exchange for UCREDs.

The Ascent Multiplayer and Online

There are plenty of Online and Multiplayer options available in The Ascent. Crossplay is available in Ascent, but currently there is no cross save option, Multiplayer options are as follows:

• Online Co-op: Where you invite or join your friends or random players, which connects to a larger network.
• Couch Co-op: Co-op mode where you ask your friends to connect and play with you offline from the same platform you are playing on.

There are currently no PvP options available. 

New Story: Cyber Heist

Coming 19 AUG, 2022 

The extended story of Cyber Heist takes place after The Ascent's main campaign. This requires the player to have completed the base game campaign. This can also be done in co-op and only requires the host to complete the campaign. Players will explore new content with with Kira, a former employer. She has a new job that will bring new Arcology owned by the Malhorst-Gelb Group.

An added feature in the DLC is the introduction of Melee Weapons. Players will now have access to various new weapons including melee weapons, which will add a new dynamic to how players face existing powerful enemies. 

Along with the added story, players can find new main and side missions, meet new characters and explore new locations and environments.

Combat Tips and Features in the Ascent

Take advantage of all the available equipment, which will make up the main combat features of the game. The equipment kit can be further customized and enhanced with additional attachments that can be equipped such as Augmentations and Modules that are combined to create a unique build fitted to each player. Create a combination of equipment and level up while progression through each of the mission, encountering different Enemies and Bosses.

Attributes are the base of high level functionality of your enhanced body. It drives the efficiency of your installed augmentation abilities. The main attributes you will find int he game area Cybernetics, Motorics, Biometrics and Frame, which are all features that can be affected by skills are increased by equipping specific items and Augmenttations. All Skills are also tied to an Attribute which increase in tandem. Each time you level up, you acquire 3 Skill Points which you can use to allocate to your preferred skill. Should players change their mind, you can also respec skills by interacting with a Grafter. 

When running into action, take note not of each wall, counter or crevice that can be used for cover however, this fast paced action discourages you from remain in one spot for too long since these covered spaces are not guaranteed to protect players for long. Players may find themselves in a vulnerable spot, when facing a number of enemies that can also potentially blow your cover and destroy your defense. Besides these covered areas, players may find that a number of enemies take quick advances towards the player so its best to adopt an aggressive strategy before the character is overwhelmed. 

Enemies in the game cannot be underestimated. With a wider top down field, players can view each approaching enemies and will notice that they can strategize and flank you at your spot, further encouraging players to keep moving. Each enemy encounter is different and therefore each type of  attack and damage will affect each of them differently. The best way to determine if you have the most optimum weapon equipped against a particular enemy your facing will be to take a look at the color of your ammunition as they are dealt. The effectiveness of your chosen weapon can be determined with the color of your shots that adapt to each encounter.The output color displays how effective your attacks are against each enemy encounter. These colors appear as Red, White and Grey which are listed from most effective to ineffective. If your output damage appears grey, it is recommended to swap weapons. Take advantage of two-weapon capacity and take note of the variety of enemies you face when creating your build. This encourages players to carry a diverse set of weapons with two different damage types to face different enemies. 

What Equipment are available in The Ascent? 

The main form of equipment consists of a Variety of Weapons and Armor which can either be purchased from different Merhcants and Vendors, earned as rewards, downloaded through DLCs or looted after enemy encounters or from ATMs and chests. The choice of weapons depend on each player's playstyle. These are sorted into Sidearms, Machineguns, Shotguns, Precision Weapons and Excessive Weapons. These all vary in combat and stats. They are further sorted into the types of attack that are dealt such as  Ballistic, Digital, Energy, and more. Once players have found their ideal weapon choice, this can then be kept throughout the game as they progressed and be continuously upgraded to the next  MK.-level. with the help of a Gunsmith. Up to two weapons can be carried at a time.

Create the optimum build with a Set of Armor that consists of Head, Torso and Leg Armor. These have four main base stats that measure Physical, Energy, Digitial and Fire Defense, which are all elements that can be considered when trying to create a build to balance each attack style and weapon choice. These can be swapped out to adapt to each environment and missions s players progress through the game. 

Carry extra tactical gear to add dynamic combat features to each encounter. These range from grenades to robots and turrets. Choose carefully since each character can only carry one. 

Further enhance your build with Attributes that add abilities such as the ability to mark Enemies in range and have them explode on death or deploy an additional drone to help collect loot depending on each player's priorities. Modules are also equipped to aid benefit the player in battle, usually affecting player stats such as health and melee damage. 

The Ascent Gameplay

The Ascent offers a unique top-down shooter experience giving players a different perspective when engaging in combat. This provides a wider field of vision while providing a wider range, allowing room for more tactical decisions when using the variety of Tactical Items, Armor and Weapons while also providing wider range to appreciate each Location and  environment. Visually locate each safe spot and reposition yourself as you move your way through a rain of bullets and lasers until you arrive at your objective

The Ascent Cyberpunk Universe

Explore the different Cyberpunk environments that are divided into districts. Ascent takes place within an arcology in a futuristic dystopian world known as Veles, controlled by a powerful megacorporation called "The Ascent Group". Players assume control of a worker enslaved by the company. The player's role is to stop other factions from seizing control and uncover the mystery behind the demise of The Ascent Group. Players can traverse through these different environments and districts by locating the nearest subway station or by hiring a taxi for a fee. This works as fast travel option once the district has been unlocked.  

Players will also be able to feel the fact-paced nature of the Cyberpunk environment through the soundtrack that is also available for purchase. The music tempo adjusts to the ongoing action as enemies are encountered throughout the map. To add to the immersive experience, players may find that a lot the environment may be interacted with and potentially utilized to your advantage from flammable areas and explosive cannisters, each environment is full of colorful features and interactive details. Part of this interactive environment is also the Hacking environment. Many objects in the world require a cyberdeck capable of hacking different objects. View the Journal's character screen view which objects can be hacked with the cyberdeck. The ability to hack objects will give access to ATMs and chests, so it is an alternative way to gain valuable loot. The Cyberdeck can also be upgraded by locating cyberdeck upgrades around the world. 

Encounter different Enemies in these areas that can be identified as ferals, turbo thugs and other aggressive creatures roaming around the map. Each of these enemies have their own sets of stats and weaknesses, which makes it important to take note of what kind of output damage your are dealing. 

With the absence of any classes, create your ideal cyberpunk look by further customizing the character outlook with the newly added Skins and Cosmetics that were added to expand the variety of appearances when playing through the game. Players can now also take advantage of its new Transmogrification feature to further customize their character into their most ideal look, while keeping the original stats and and builds of their originally selected weapons and armor.
